Waste Pro driver saves trapped passengers after rollover crash

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A Waste Pro driver jumped in to help people involved in a crash on State Road 82 and Buckingham Road Saturday.

The front load commercial driver of more than a decade was on his route when he came across a rollover crash before first responders arrived at the scene.

Rene Lieurance, an army veteran and former race track engineer in Palm Beach County, said he found two men trapped inside one car.

While other good samaritans stabilized the car, Lieurance said he grabbed his work safety gloves to remove and pull away the windshield.

One of the men was able to crawl out.

Lieurance explained he then grabbed a towel from his work truck and wrapped it around the man’s heel to stop it from bleeding. The other car passengers were also checked out.

He said he cut out the airbags to minimize the dust inside their car to help them breath better.

Once fire and EMS got to the scene, the people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital for treatment.
