Gov. DeSantis signs bill barring transgender females from women’s sports
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act into law at a press conference in Jacksonville on Tuesday morning.
The bill — SB 1028 — will not allow transgender women to compete in women’s sports in Florida. DeSantis signed the bill into law on the first day of Pride Month. It is slated to go into effect on July 1.
Florida joins Idaho, Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Montana in banning trans-women from competing in secondary and collegiate sports for women and girls.
