Less than 24 hours after Commissioner of Agriculture Democrat Nikki Fried filed to run for governor, a Republican senator wants to dig into her finances.
That senator is chairman of the Republican Party Joe Gruters. He claims Fried earned far more than she first reported.
He’s asking Naples Republican Senator Kathleen Passidomo-Dist. 28, who chairs the state rules committee to investigate further.
“The complaint alleges that she improperly took or didn’t report funds from her lobbying firm,” Passidomo said.
The letter from Gruters said Fried’s first report in 2018...

An asylum seeker is a non-US citizen who comes to the US seeking protection because they have suffered persecution or fear that they will suffer persecution due to their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a certain social group.
President Biden ended the Trump-era policy that forced people seeking asylum to wait in Mexico until their court dates in the US.

Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried said she’s running for governor to break what she calls a rigged system.
She is urging Florida voters to try something new since the state has never had a woman as governor.
Fried is Florida’s only statewide elected democrat. She won the seat back in 2018 when she defeated former state representative and now Lee Property Appraiser Republican Matt Caldwell.
She now believes she’s the best candidate to defeat Governor Ron DeSantis.
NBC2’s Chief Political Reporter Dave Elias spoke with Fried after the announcement:...

According to the Florida Department of State, Fried filed for candidacy on June 1 for the 2022 General Election.
Fried, who is a Democrat, has long been hinting at running for governor and has been one of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ fiercest critics. In 2018, Fried was the only Democrat to win a statewide election, and she is currently the only Democrat in DeSantis’ cabinet.
Last week, sources close to the matter said Fried would announce her candidacy at a news conference on Tuesday.
