ORLANDO, Fla.– It’s been almost five years since 49 people were shot and killed at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando.
Some lawmakers, like U.S. Senator Rick Scott want the site declared a national memorial.

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a shooting at 2475 Central Avenue on June 1st.
Police found a locked blue Ford SUV with a man shot inside, when they arrived.
Officials broke the drivers side window to open the door and found Montrell Amari O’Neal inside.
He had a large gunshot wound on his forehead, according to police. O’Neal was pronounced dead at the scene.
While investigating, officers found a black Toyota Camry and a white Toyota Sequoia with bullet holes in the area.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Investigators are searching for a suspect involved a burglary at a Lehigh Acres Popeyes.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said the burglary happened early Monday morning at the Popeyes located at 2710 Lee Boulevard. The suspect used a large pair of channel locks to remove the lock from the front door.
Crime Stoppers confirmed the suspect spent time hiding in shrubbery outside the business before going inside.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A scary situation for a Charlotte County mother in a Lyft ride with her children ended up just being a case of miscommunication, deputies said.
The mother had been taking a Lyft to Fort Myers to pick up her vehicle from the shop with her two children on Monday when she claimed her driver had started to ignore his GPS directions.

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. — Three people with gunshot wounds were found dead inside a Publix Supermarket in Royal Palm Beach, officials said.
Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting that left one adult male, one adult female, and one child dead inside the Publix in the 1100 block of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard. The shooter is one of the dead.
Law Enforcement arrived at the scene of the shooting around 11:39 a.m. on Thursday.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured after a dump truck hauling gravel flipped on SR 82 in Collier County Thursday morning.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SR 82 is closed in both directions near Gator Slough Road due to the rollover crash.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and said troopers believe the dump truck was the one vehicle involved.
The gravel hauled by the dump truck will need to be cleaned up, according to troopers. Drivers are being asked to seek an alternate route while crews work.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Firefighters rescued a person from sinking boat back to land in Fort Myers early Thursday morning.
The Fort Myers Fire Department said its crews responded around 12:47 a.m. to a watercraft distress. It was reported that the boat lost power and was taking on water near I-75 and SR 31.
The boater was found and no injuries were reported, according to fire crews.
The boat was without plugs and FMFD helped tow it to downtown at the Yacht Basin.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Bears are on the move and have appeared all over Southwest Florida this week.
Florida’s black bear population continues to grow. There are an estimated 1,000 bears in South Florida living in the conservation areas of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Now that bears are becoming more active and roaming closer to humans, officials are urging people to use bear-resistant trash bins. Collier County sells the bear-proof cans for $115 each.
