LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Investigators are searching for a suspect involved a burglary at a Lehigh Acres Popeyes.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said the burglary happened early Monday morning at the Popeyes located at 2710 Lee Boulevard. The suspect used a large pair of channel locks to remove the lock from the front door.
Crime Stoppers confirmed the suspect spent time hiding in shrubbery outside the business before going inside.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – The man accused of torching a Lehigh Acres Family Dollar in February won’t face charges for the crime.
The State Attorney’s Office said there is not enough evidence to charge Josue Vazquez-Reyes with crimes related to the fire, which investigators said was the result of arson.
Vazquez-Reyes is a former employee of the Family Dollar that was burned down. Lee County deputies had said Vazquez called 911 to report the fire.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.– Lehigh crews responded to a grill fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said the fire started from a propane tank on the patio of the home, off 19th Street Southwest.
The flames did not spread to the house. No one was injured during the incident.
Lehigh Acres Fire Control posted a reminder on their social media, cautioning people that “grills should be set up away from your home or other structures just in case something unexpected occurs”.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Four students were injured after an SUV slammed into a school bus on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Edwinstone Boulevard. The school bus was pulling out of a nearby community. The driver of the SUV did not have time to stop and slammed into the school bus, rolling over in the process, troopers said.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A car burst into flames at a Lehigh Acres gas station on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The driver noticed the engine was smoking while they were pumping gas at the 7-Eleven on Joel Boulevard and Alexander Graham Bell Boulevard, according to Lehigh Acre and Rescue.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A deputy with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a crash on Lee Boulevard and Williams Avenue early Friday morning, officials said.
NBC2 crews at the scene said the crash involved a car and an LCSO unit. They also saw an LCSO cruiser following an ambulance.
Williams Avenue was shut down just before 4 a.m. as crews worked the scene.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — At least one person was injured when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a canal in Lehigh Acres early Friday morning.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash.
NBC2 crews at the scene said the SUV that crashed into a canal near Sunshine Boulevard North and Nancy Drive was sinking into the water and had bubbles coming up from under the vehicle.
The SUV was headed the wrong direction on Sunshine Boulevard before it ended up in the canal and at least one person was injured, troopers said.
Information about what caused the crash is not yet known....
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Deputies are investigating a shooting on Jefferson Avenue in Lehigh Acres, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
One person has non-life- threatening injuries, LCSO reported.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A 7-foot alligator was captured while wandering around the parking lot of Lehigh Acres Health & Rehab on Lee Blvd Monday.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Lehigh Acres Fire Department responded to the scene after reports of the gator chasing people in a nearby bank parking lot, according to FWC.
