Lehigh fire officials offer free smoke alarms for senior residents

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District has set aside free smoke alarms in an effort to help out its senior citizens. Fire officials said senior resident’s that don’t have a working smoke alarm system in their home can contact their safety team to set up a system for free. Residents can call (239) 303 5335. Lehigh Acres crews respond to propane grill fire

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.– Lehigh crews responded to a grill fire on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said the fire started from a propane tank on the patio of the home, off 19th Street Southwest. The flames did not spread to the house. No one was injured during the incident. Lehigh Acres Fire Control posted a reminder on their social media, cautioning people that “grills should be set up away from your home or other structures just in case something unexpected occurs”. Ceremonial balloon releases pose major fire risk in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Balloons from your backyard birthday party or graduation celebration could pose a significant brush fire risk, Lehigh Fire Rescue officials said. A mylar balloon recently hit a powerline and started a brush fire. The charred balloons were found at the scene by investigators.
