FORT MYERS, Fla. – A young black bear was found inside a Fort Myers business on Tuesday morning. Fort Myers police said the bear was found inside of Hurricane Safe Shutters off Earl Road. Small bear found wandering near Naples homes

NAPLES. Fla. – A small bear was found wandering near Central Avenue and Gulf Shore Boulevard in Naples. The Naples Police Department is in the area and said the bear was running around residents backyards and going into pools. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is also on scene. FWC searching for three men who killed large Tarpon

KEY LARGO, Fla.– The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is searching for three men who removed killed a Tarpon. On March 15, the three grabbed the fish out of the water and killed it at the Calusa Campground, according to FWC. Tarpons should remain in the water unless an angler is trying for a record using a Tarpon tag. The tags cost $50 per tag, per fish. “Keep tarpon, especially the gills, in as much water as is safely possible,” FWC said on their website. Red tide loses intensity as it lingers off SWFL’s coast

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Red tide is lingering off the Southwest Florida coast, but the toxic water is losing intensity.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has reported low to medium concentrations from Collier County north to Charlotte County. Earlier this week, they tested and found high concentrations of red tide near Bonita Beach. Right now, very low amounts are surrounding the Sanibel Causeway and Lighthouse Beach. FWC rescues abandoned manatee calf found in Caloosahatchee River

A manatee calf was recently spotted swimming alone in the Caloosahatchee River. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was called by a concerned resident who lives in front of the water where the baby was seen. After waiting a day to make sure the mother manatee was not nearby feeding, FWC crews rescued the calf with a hoop net. The male calf was measured at 3.8 feet long. FWC trappers have busy month wrangling gators in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla.– FWC trappers have been busy capturing gators this month. They have caught gators on the loose and nuisance gators in different areas everyday this week.  Trappers get calls about gators in ponds, in parking lots, in garages, on porches and in dozens of other spots.  Once an FWC trapper catches a gator, they safely relocate it to a farm where it will be safe and away from humans.  If you spot a nuisance gator you can contact FWC’s Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Shrimp boat caught with 350 snapper more than legal limit

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Officers discovered more than 350 snappers past the legal bag limit in a shrimp boat freezer, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission [FWC]. Investigators found other potential violations during the offshore inspection and forwarded the evidence to NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement, FWC reported. Vultures invade Florida neighborhood

TAMPA, Fla. [AP] – Vultures have descended on a Florida neighborhood, and residents are not keen on the messes and home damage caused by their fair-weathered foes. Resident Judy Oliveri told WFLA-TV that her Tampa neighborhood has become overrun with large black birds.
