FORT MYERS, Lee County – Fort Myers police responded to a shooting near a home on the corner of Fountain and C Streets.
FMPD said they’re responding to gunfire in the area. They said no one was injured, and no homes were hit.
At least 10 shell casings can be seen on the ground.
Several people were in the area at the time, and FMPD is asking anyone with information to come forward.
The scene of the investigation has since cleared. No other information was immediately available from officers.

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a shooting at 2475 Central Avenue on June 1st.
Police found a locked blue Ford SUV with a man shot inside, when they arrived.
Officials broke the drivers side window to open the door and found Montrell Amari O’Neal inside.
He had a large gunshot wound on his forehead, according to police. O’Neal was pronounced dead at the scene.
While investigating, officers found a black Toyota Camry and a white Toyota Sequoia with bullet holes in the area.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers police officer is back on leave following allegations of misconduct.
The Fort Myers Police Department said an internal investigation has started Wednesday into misconduct allegations committed by Officer Jason Jackson. FMPD Chief Derrick Diggs said the FBI provided information to the department after conducting a lengthy investigation of Officer Jackson and three former officers.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fort Myers police are trying to identify two men who stole from a Fort Myers 7-Eleven convenience store while an employee was having an overdose.
Officers released images of the two who reportedly committed grand theft from the store, located at 2265 Colonial Boulevard, on February 17, 2021.
Investigators said the thieves were seen on store surveillance stealing multiple cases of beer and cigarette cartons, resulting in about $15,000 in total losses.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A young black bear was found inside a Fort Myers business on Tuesday morning.
Fort Myers police said the bear was found inside of Hurricane Safe Shutters off Earl Road.
The bear was seen calmly hanging out inside the business, lying on the floor.

Fort Myers police monitored the bear until officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were able to respond and relocate the bear to its natural habitat.

FORT MYERS, Fla.– The Fort Myers City Council has extended Fort Myers Police Chief Diggs’ contract.
The contract was set to expire in August.
Chief Diggs joined the council meeting through Zoom when he was asked if he would like to stay in Fort Myers, Monday night.
“While these are challenging times my commitment to improving the public safety in the city of Fort Myers is unwavered,” said Diggs.
Diggs and the City Manager still need to work out the details of his contract.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – At least 20 auto dealerships and repair shops have been targeted in the West District of the City of Fort Myers between May 1 and June 1, according to police.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man was shot and killed inside a car off of Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers just after midnight on Tuesday, officials said.
Shot spotters in the area detected a gunshot in the area of Franklin Street and Central Avenue, police with the Fort Myers Police Department said.
Officers are investigating at 2475 Central Avenue. The man that was shot died at the scene and the suspect is on the run, police said.
FMPD’s Major Crimes unit is at the scene and investigating inside a large area surrounded by yellow crime scene tape.
