Firefighters find sinking boat near Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Firefighters rescued a person from sinking boat back to land in Fort Myers early Thursday morning. The Fort Myers Fire Department said its crews responded around 12:47 a.m. to a watercraft distress. It was reported that the boat lost power and was taking on water near I-75 and SR 31. The boater was found and no injuries were reported, according to fire crews. The boat was without plugs and FMFD helped tow it to downtown at the Yacht Basin. Officers investigating early morning robbery in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Police are investigating a robbery on Veronica S Shoemaker Boulevard in Fort Myers, officials said. Officers with the Fort Myers Police Department were dispatched to the scene near 1512 Veronica S Shoemaker Blvd and are investigating, according to a spokesperson with FMPD. The robbery victim was riding their bike into the Brookhill Subdivision when he was robbed by multiple people, police said. The victim is cooperating with officers.
