CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Many people leave their vehicles running and unattended, which can lead to it being burglarized and even stolen, officials said.
Although this seems like common sense to some people, others will often leave their cars unlocked, with a door open, or leave the windows down, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department said.
As more vehicles are stolen, insurance rates will increase for everyone, officers said.
Police are urging people to turn off their cars and lock them to reduce preventable crimes.

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect accused of stealing $400 worth of meat from a restaurant in Punta Gorda on May 8.

Deputies said a suspect was caught on surveillance cameras burglarizing Shenanigans bar and grill at 3103 Broadpoint Road around 3:30 a.m. by taking meat from an outdoor cooler.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. / CNN — Joel Greenberg, an indicted close associate of Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, pleaded guilty on Monday to six federal charges, admitting to a judge that he knowingly solicited and paid a minor for sex.

MIAMI, Fla. [NBC6] – Police are investigating a death after the body of a missing 16-year-old girl was found on Sunday evening.
Family members identified the teen as Dayana Gomez Sanchez. City of Miami police officers were dispatched at around 5:20 p.m. to the 1200 block of Northeast 79th Street, near Pelican Harbor Marina, where they found the body.
Sanchez was last seen on Saturday leaving her home to go for a run around 6 p.m., according to police. She was reported missing around 8:30 p.m.

TEMPE, Ariz. [AP] – A woman is accused of killing her two young children with a meat cleaver after arguing with her husband, police said on Sunday.
According to officials, 40-year-old Yui Inoue threatened to stab her husband over an argument about money to go to Japan before allegedly killing her children.
It was unclear Sunday if Inoue had a lawyer yet who could speak on her behalf. Police said the woman primarily speaks Japanese and had an interpreter for their interviews, Associated Press reported.

CINCINNATI, Oh. / CNN — US Customs and Border Protection officers have seized 36,000 headphones that resembled Apple AirPods.
CBP in Cincinnati said that the headphones, which arrived in three shipments from China, were in violation of “trademark and copyright codes,” according to a news release.
The wireless headphones violated trademarks that “protected Apple configuration” recorded with CBP, the release said.

Officers with the Fort Myers Police Department are investigating the shooting at 5344 Summerlin Road.
Yellow crime scene tape surrounds a few apartments on the second-floor hallway of the 5348 building at the Horizons Apartments complex. The walkway from the second to the third story of the building is also blocked off.

HOUSTON, Tx. / CNN — A Bengal tiger that went missing after a bizarre incident in Houston last week “has been found and appears to be unharmed,” Houston police announced Saturday night.
Houston Police Commander Ron Borza said in a Saturday night news conference Victor Hugo Cuevas and his wife Gia are the owners of the tiger.
Cuevas was out on bond for a murder charge in Fort Bend County and was previously charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing a man in 2017.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Police were investigating a shooting near the 4400 block of Santa Barbara Boulevard South in Cape Coral early Sunday morning.
Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department shut down Santa Barbara Boulevard just after 6 a.m. as they investigated the shooting.
Santa Barbara Boulevard has since reopened.
