LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Lee Health’s mobile pediatric vaccination clinic has been on the move all week and it’s latest stop is in Cape Coral.
Anyone 12 and under is able to get a free COVID-19 vaccine at the walk-up clinic in Cape Coral on Friday, June 11. A parent or authorized guardian must accompany a minor for vaccination. The second dose will be set for the same location or one nearby.
The pediatric vaccination clinic will be at the Family Health Centers on Del Prado Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Moderna has filed for emergency use authorization with the FDA for its COVID-19 vaccine for use in US teens ages 12 to 17.
“We are pleased to announce that we have submitted for an emergency use authorization for our COVID-19 vaccine with the FDA for use in adolescents in the United States,” said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna. “We are encouraged that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was highly effective at preventing COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 infection in adolescents.”
Moderna’s COVID vaccine is currently authorized for people ages 18 and older.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health will no longer release daily COVID-19 data.
State officials said Florida is transitioning into the next phase of the COVID-19 response. As more people get vaccinated and new case positivity rate decreases, FDOH has moved to a weekly reporting schedule for key COVID-19 data.
More than 10.3 million Floridians have been vaccinated, which accounts for more than half of the state’s population, officials said. Eighty-five percent of Florida’s seniors have also been vaccinated.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The race to vaccinate is slowing down to nearly a complete stop in Lee County.
Some people are showing up for their first dose but then skipping their second, Lee Health officials said.
Health experts are urging people who’ve gotten their first dose to also get the second, if their shot follows a two-dose series.
Although getting the first dose does offer some protection, you’re not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after the second dose.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Even with COVID-19 cases going down, the Curative testing site in Cape Coral has been seeing a record number of people.
With the testing site at CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers closed, more people have been going to the site in Cape Coral, located at 1020 Cultural Park Blvd, across from City Hall.
About two weeks ago, the Cape Curative site was averaging 150 people. Now, they’re seeing about 250 people per day.
As for COVID-19 vaccines, which are available at the site as well, they have been able to vaccinate about 200 people.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Vaccinations are starting back up in Lee County today, June 3.
People who made an appointment to get their first or second doses of the coronavirus vaccine will get their shot at Edison Mall.
Vaccinations will be administered at the Edison Mall location through Friday, June 18.
Local health officials said the vaccine is working and don’t expect to see a spike in cases like last year.
Half of the United States have gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with about 40 percent of Americans being fully vaccinated.

WASHINGTON / CNBC — Moderna officials asked the Food and Drug Administration to fully approve it’s coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, making it the second drugmaker in the U.S. to do so.
If approved, Moderna would be able to market their vaccine directly to consumers.
The mRNA vaccine is currently on the U.S. market under an emergency use authorization, which was granted by the FDA in December. It gives conditional approval based on two months of safety data.
