COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured after a dump truck hauling gravel flipped on SR 82 in Collier County Thursday morning.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SR 82 is closed in both directions near Gator Slough Road due to the rollover crash.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and said troopers believe the dump truck was the one vehicle involved.
The gravel hauled by the dump truck will need to be cleaned up, according to troopers. Drivers are being asked to seek an alternate route while crews work.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Bears are on the move and have appeared all over Southwest Florida this week.
Florida’s black bear population continues to grow. There are an estimated 1,000 bears in South Florida living in the conservation areas of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Now that bears are becoming more active and roaming closer to humans, officials are urging people to use bear-resistant trash bins. Collier County sells the bear-proof cans for $115 each.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Collier Clerk of Courts will host a job fair on Saturday at the North Collier Government Center.
The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the center on Orange Blossom Drive right next to the library. Officials said anyone interested can learn about different openings including court operations, customer service, and finance.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A plane went down near Interstate 75 in Collier County, officials said.
Two people were on board the single-engine plane that crashed two miles south of I-75 near mile marker 55, according to Greater Naples Fire Rescue officials.

Rescue crews with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue, Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Collier County EMS responded to the crash.
Both people inside the plane were taken away from the scene in a rescue helicopter.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Golden Gate Estates residents said that tires have been seen floating in canals recently.
Over the weekend, people who live on 24th Avenue Northeast, off of 8th Street, saw several commercial-sized tires submerged or floating in the canal.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Over the past two weeks, four areas across Collier County have reported seeing “Cancer” spray-painted on a surface. The latest instance was outside the Golden Gate Traffic and Driving School off of Golden Gate Parkway Tuesday night.
Owner, Joe Rivera noticed it after seeing NBC2’s report that night, as he was pulling out of the driveway behind his building. The words “Kid Cancer” were spray-painted in black.

NAPLES, Fla.– Former Naples Mayor Bill Barnett filed an ethics complaint with the city on Tuesday in an attempt to clear his name.
An ethics complaint was filed by Naples IT Director Brian Dye in May, alleging Mayor Teresa Heitmann accused Barnett of running a child prostitution ring out of the Naples Airport. Sheriff Rambosk was also allegedly accused by Heitmann.
