Person flown to hospital with burns after fire at Gateway home

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A person is being flown to the hospital by helicopter after being badly burned in a fire.

Crews with South Trail Fire and Lehigh Fire are responding to the scene at home on Lake Meadow Drive in Gateway. The fire is out, officials said.

The person is being taken to a nearby soccer field where the helicopter will pick them up, according to South Trail Fire.

The age of the person and the cause of the fire have not been released.
