Medical experts debunk rumors about vaccines causing infertility

FORT MYERS, Fla.– We’ve all read rumors on social media before. The saying goes, you can’t believe everything you read online.

Well, recently there have been a lot of rumors swirling around social media about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The latest fear is someone with the vaccine can “radiate” harmful particles, or spike proteins, to women, disrupting their reproductive system.

Recently, misinformation is being spread that the vaccine can impact women’s menstrual cycle.

Some even say it can harm fertility or even causing a miscarriage.

This is definitely not true, according to medical experts.

“It makes no scientific sense at this point that this would be even possible,” said Dr. Alejandro Perez-Trepichio, Chief Medical Officer of Millennium Physician Group.

These spike proteins, that people worry can hurt you, are part of the vaccine.

“In terms of the spike protein, it’s the only piece, it’s just one piece of the entire virus that we are putting in people’s bodies so are immune system is able to recognize the virus,” said Dr. Alejandro Perez-Trepichio.

Basically, it’s the tiny piece of the virus that attaches to your cells. It tells your immune system what to avoice, keeping you healthy.

So if you come across what you think is a rumour on social media, check with the CDC, or even better, call your doctor.
