Lightning to face Carolina in second round of Stanley Cup Playoffs

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Tampa Bay Lightning will take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Carolina advanced out of the first round when they eliminated Nashville 4-3 on Thursday in overtime Game 6.

The Bolts slid into the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the eighth time after besting the Florida Panthers in a 4-0 shutout win on home ice.

Carolina will own a home-ice advantage for the first two games of the second round. The schedule for the Tampa Bay-Carolina series has not been released yet.

The teams have never faced off in the Playoffs, but the Bolts went 4-3-1 against Carolina during the regular season, including a 3-1-0 record at AMALIE Arena and 1-2-1 mark at PNC Arena.

Tampa Bay are the defending Stanley Cup champs and have won their last five playoff series.
