Lee County commissioners enact 30-day burn ban
LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Lee County Board of Commissioners voted on Tuesday to issue a burn ban.
The ban will be in effect for 30 days and begins on June 1, according to Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District.
With the ban in place, no open burning [campfires, bonfires, trash burning, or fireworks] of any kind is authorized, officials said.
The ban comes as the region combats an extended dry season, which leaves the area more vulnerable to wildfires.
