Former Fort Myers Councilwoman passes away at 89
FORT MYERS, Fla.– Former Fort Myers Councilwoman, Dr. Ann Elizabeth Murphy Knight, died at 89-years-old on May 26.
Knight was an educator for over 40 years.
The S.T.A.R.S. Complex expansion, located on Edison Avenue, was has been renamed in dedication to Knight.
Dr. Knight, an educator and long-serving member of the Fort Myers City Council, took on juvenile crime in the city and helped improve childhood education. A graduate of Dunbar High School who returned to the city that she loved to teach youth at Franklin Park Elementary, Edgewood Academy, and Caloosa Elementary for over 40 Years, as posted on the S.T.A.R.S website.
