Centurylink COVID-19 testing site in Fort Myers to close Sunday
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Centurylink COVID-19 testing site will be closing on Sunday, May 23.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management has informed Lee County it intends to close the site by the end of the day Sunday.
When the site first opened up last year, the demand for testing was high. People would have to wait in lines for hours in some cases. The demand now has dropped, with fewer people than ever visiting the site to get tested.
“Overall the process is easier to get tested, there’s more resources available,” said North Fort Myers resident Linda Price.
If you do need to get a COVID-19 test, there are still many options.
In Lee County, doctor offices like Lee Health and Millennium Physician Group are offering COVID testing. Patients will need to talk with their primary-care doctor who would need to order a test.
Pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS are also offering COVID-19 testing. Self-test kits can be bought through these pharmacies as well.
Other testing sites include the Curative testing site in Cape Coral and Quest Diagnostics.
