Byron Donalds criticizes Biden for terminating Trump-era border policy
DONNA, Tx. — Florida Congressman Byron Donalds is at the United States-Mexico Border and is criticizing the Biden administration’s latest change to how the US handles asylum seekers.
An asylum seeker is a non-US citizen who comes to the US seeking protection because they have suffered persecution or fear that they will suffer persecution due to their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a certain social group.
President Biden ended the Trump-era policy that forced people seeking asylum to wait in Mexico until their court dates in the US.

Donalds opposed the move and tweeted that he thinks there is a lack of management at the border, calling it a failure and a disgrace.
Meanwhile, Donalds is being criticized on social media for choosing to visit Texas instead of attending a meeting in Moore Haven to address the current water crisis.
NBC2 has reached out to Donalds for comment on his trip and is waiting to hear back.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of emergency in the Lone Star State due to the immigration surge.
